The Museum’s First Decade
On Thursday October 9th our museum celebrated its 10th birthday and we made it into the paper!
We held an afternoon tea in the memorial club function room, visitors travelled from all parts of our state, and we catered for 55 visitors. The RSL sub-Branch president Ally Mercer opened the function with a few words of welcome, followed by Kevin Coates, the museum convenor who gave us the history behind the museum opening in Scottsdale, and then asked Bruce Scott to cut the cake which was decorated with a helicopter. Afternoon tea was then enjoyed by the guests and many yarns were recounted! Several guests took the time to view the museum and see the changes that have occurred over the past ten years - with the most recent change being the installation of a lift so everyone can get to the mezzanine floor and see the helicopter from a different view.
The Korean War Diorama
Pictured here is our chairperson Kevin Coates presenting a certificate of appreciation to Ken Clark for all his hard work in completing this diorama, be sure to head into the museum to see it in all its glory (a photo can't do it justice)
